Here at Elm Wood we have a thriving sporting environment, with plenty of extra curricular teams competing in both Middleton Primary School Sports Association (MPSSA) and Rochdale School Games events. We are also very proud to say we achieved a "Bronze " School Games award in 22/23 academic year. This recognises P.E, school sport and being active playing a leading role in our school. The extra curricular sports we compete in are:
- Mixed/girls football
- Mixed athletics
- Mixed cricket
- Mixed golf
- Mixed cross-country
- Mixed bowling
- Mixed gymnastics
- Mixed dance
- Mixed/girls netball
A number of these sports also include SEN events, ensuring all our children have the opportunity to represent school.
This year, we also have 6 "Sport Leaders", who help out at dinner times with inclusive playground games for Years 3-6. They have been trained in this area by the Rochdale School Games staff and receive regular support from our P.E coordinator (Mr Cairns).
