The Jungle

Our Nurture provision (internal, inclusive provision), affectionately known as 'The Jungle', is a specialised space within our school designed to cater to the unique needs of children in Early Years and Key Stage One and is aimed mainly at those who have found attendance in traditonal classroom settings extremely challenging. Led by our dedicated Deputy Head and SENDCo, Mrs. Rodgers, along with an exceptional team of support staff, our focus is on meeting the individual needs of all children.

At 'The Jungle', we believe in the power of nurture, fostering a caring environment that promotes emotional well-being, social growth, and academic development. We understand that every child is unique, and our provision is tailored to provide a nurturing atmosphere where children thrive.

Central to our approach is the philosophy of learning through play. We recognise that play is a fundamental aspect of a child's learning journey, and within 'The Jungle', we integrate play-based activities that stimulate curiosity, creativity, and exploration. Through carefully curated experiences, children develop essential skills while engaging in enjoyable and meaningful activities. Children in Key Stage one, participate in play based activities, allowing them to develop their prime areas of learning whilst also accessing activities adapted from the National Curriculum to meet their needs

Moreover, our aim is to support children in their transition to accessing the whole class setting more frequently. By nurturing their confidence, social skills, and self-esteem in 'The Jungle', we empower them to participate actively and confidently within the wider classroom environment. Our provision acts as a stepping stone, ensuring that children feel supported and equipped to engage effectively in classroom learning. As part of our provision for these children, we are supported by outside agencies where ever possible to equip us to meet a range of needs. The Jungle sessions change on a rolling programme, ensuring that children can still access the curriculum through whole class, small group or 1:1 sessions offering bespoke interventions at a rapid pace.

In essence, 'The Jungle' is a place where children's unique needs are met, where nurturing relationships are fostered, and where the joy of learning through play paves the way for their successful integration into the broader classroom setting. We are committed to providing a supportive and enriching experience that empowers every child to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
