Spring 2 – Blood Heart
In Literacy we will be writing non-chronological reports on the heart. We will be designing our own healthy products and writing adverts based on them. Also, we will bring human emotions to life – using heart-related terminology and write our own personification poems.
This half term we will be working out the area and perimeter of various shapes. We will be solving word problems on fractions, decimals and percentages and the four rules of number using our reasoning skills. In addition to this, we will be working on algebra and BODMAS and refining our arithmetic skills.
In our Topic lessons, we will research and learn about the functions of the main organs of the human body.
During our Science lessons, we will look at the heart and circulatory system as well as exploring how to have a healthy lifestyle.
In our Art lessons, we will produce artwork based on people in action and create clay models of the structure of the heart.
In computing, we will be enhancing our programming skills by creating an interactive maths game using the Scratch program.
P.E / Games
During this half term, we will be working with Ed Start on the Wellbeing through Sport programme which is aimed at nurturing the positive mental health and wellbeing of children through physical activities. The programme helps develop children’s understanding of the core life skills needed to promote positive mental health. Covering areas such as empathy, conflict resolution, assertiveness and emotional awareness, children will not only be equipped with the life skills needed to strengthen their wellbeing, but also complete at least 30 minutes of physical activity at the same time.
