Let’s travel back 5000 years to the dusty realms of ancient Egypt. Cruise along the Nile, entering a world of mysteries and curses, mummies and kings.
Find out about life on the river’s fertile banks, discovering Egypt and its fascinating culture.
Unravel the the secrets of ancient tombs, historical sources and age-old artefacts. Find out about powerful pharaohs and grandiose gods! Make yourself a nemes and you’ll really look the part!
Become an apprentice and work for Ramose- he’s the chief embalmer at the Beautiful House. Help him prepare a body for its journey to the afterlife.
Now open the doorway to ancient Egypt- who knows what treasures you will find!
This half term children will be focusing on a range of writing genres such as:
Reading: We will be reading non-fiction books to retrieve and record information about ancient Egyptians.. We will also read “Flat Stanley: The Egyptian grave robbery”. by Sara Pennypacker and Jon Mitchell.
This half term the children will be focusing on various aspects of mathematics:
Addition and Subtraction
Simple multiplication & division.
Formal methods of multiplication and Division
Science: The children will learn about “Light and Dark”. This includes how the sun moves across the sky, why we can see the moon, reflections and how to stay safe in the sun.
Geography: They will learn how to use maps to locate ancient and modern day Egypt (including which continent it is in). Locating and identifying the features of the Rover Nile. Modern day tourism.
PSHE: “Just say no!” - The dangers of drugs and alcohol and anti-bullying.
R.E: Why do people prey?
Art: Drawing artefacts, hieroglyphic amuletsa and self portraits.
Design and Technology: Children will be looking at Egyptian foods and cooking techniques.
Computing: To use the internet to research, evaluate and present information in a factfile. We will also learn how to use emails safely.
This term we will be focussing on Gymnastics.
