During this half term we will be studying the following;
It’s time to take a walk on the wild side! Find out who’s coming to visit… Is it a big munching lizard or an eagle eyed bird of prey? Whatever it is, do you think you can handle it?
Learn about creepy crocs and amazing alligators, the deadly assassin bug and the voracious Venus Fly Trap. Be inspired to write an informative leaflet all about your favourite predator and compose a poem about a predator or its prey.
Then use what you know about the best of the beasts to create the ultimate predator; the apex of the chain. Feeling peckish? Let’s jump aboard the food chain!
This half term children will be focusing on a range of writing genres such as; recounts, leaflets, poetry, dilemma stories and speeches. The children will be learning to:
We will be reading non-fiction books to retrieve and record information about predators. We will read The Sheep Pig by Dick King Smith, along with a wide range of different genres during daily guided reading sessions.
This half term the children will be focusing on various aspects of mathematics:
Simple multiplication & division.
Formal methods of multiplication & division
“Just say no!” - The dangers of drugs and alcohol and anti-bullying.
They will learn how to use maps to locate countries and
The children will learn about food chains, skeletal systems of different animals and fossils.
Children will look at programming using Purple Mash. Will will also use the internet to research, evaluate and present information in a leaflet.
Art & Design
Children will be looking at Bob Ross and be using this to inspire a piece of their own art.
Swimming (Thursday at Middelton arena 10:30-11:30)
In addition, Class 8's P.E session in school will take place on Tuesday afternoon.
