In Autumn Term 1 we will be studying Tremors
In English, we will be reading the wonderful book ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ by Philip Pulman and doing lots of varied writing tasks based on it. We will look at the key features of some text types and write letters, instructions and character descriptions based on our class text.
Another focus this half term is poetry and we will create and write our own volcano poems using personification.
The use of inverted commas and the layout of direct speech is another big focus for Year 3 this half term.
This half term we will be looking at place value and recognising the value of each digit up to 1,000. Also, we will be looking at addition, subtraction, multiplication and division methods. Another focus for this half term will be 2-D and 3-D shape.
In our Geography lessons, we will be looking at the features of a volcano; looking at how and why they erupt and researching areas of the world where they are most likely found.
During our Science lessons we will be learning all about different types of rocks and soils before moving onto magnetism.
In our Art lessons, we will research and produce artwork based on the artist Jackson Pollock.
In Computing, we are learning all about E-Safety this half term and producing some posters based on the rules to keep safe whilst online.
This half term, Year 3 will be taking part in a range of P.E activities and circuits. We will follow simple instructions and apply rules whilst working both independently and collaboratively.
